At Brambley Cottage, we understand that each stage of your child's development is unique.

That’s why we’ve carefully designed our rooms to reflect the individual needs of babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers — creating warm, stimulating spaces where children feel safe, confident, and inspired to learn and grow.

Nursery Rooms

Ages: 6 weeks - 18 months

Our two baby rooms, Toby Teds and Emily Elephants, offer a calm and comforting environment tailored for our youngest children.

Each room welcomes up to six babies and provides a cosy space filled with soothing sensory experiences to nurture early development.

From soft textures and sensory play to body painting and herb-scented dough, these rooms are all about discovery through touch, sound, and exploration.

Each baby is assigned a dedicated key person who works closely with you to understand and support your baby’s individual needs, and ensure a gentle, supportive transition into nursery for both of you.

We understand how emotional those first few weeks can be, and we’re here to walk beside you every step of the way. Our settling-in sessions are designed to be calm and unhurried — you’re welcome to stay and play with your baby as they get to know their new surroundings at their own pace.

We also invite you to bring in familiar items from home to help your baby feel settled and secure.

Toddler Rooms

Ages: 1 - 2 years

Polly Parrots (up to 9 children) and Billy Badgers (up to 12 children) are lively, engaging spaces designed to build confidence, independence, and communication through play.

As your child begins to explore the world around them more actively, our toddler rooms are where little personalities really begin to shine and confidence starts to blossom. We believe children learn best when they are truly engaged and there’s nothing more engaging than following what they love. Whether its roaring dinosaurs, magnificent vehicles or imaginative role play, these interests are a springboard for their learning and will be provided for them each day.

Daily routines are structured around the children’s interests, with plenty of opportunities for imaginative play, sensory exploration, and group activities that encourage social development.

Pre-School Rooms

Ages: 2 years 9 months - 5 years

Our pre-schoolers are supported and encouraged as they take their next steps toward school readiness.

Daisy Dolphins and Mickey Moles are based in self-contained buildings separate from the main nursery, giving children a greater sense of independence in a safe, stimulating environment.

Each room caters for up to 16 children and offers a wide variety of carefully planned activities covering all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Our Daisy Dolphins room is a place full of wonder, independence and discovery. Our 2-3 year olds become more curious, capable and confident in their own abilities. From buttering their own toast to choosing their fruit, our toddlers are supported to become increasingly independent.

By the time the children leave the Daisy Dolphins room, they’re not just learning how to do things but discovering that they can!

Our Mickey Moles children love to take on real responsibilities to help them feel empowered, valued and confident. Whether they’re helping the cook to take in the nursery shopping, hanging out the washing with a staff member or helping care for the younger children, they learn that their actions make a difference.

The children are at the heart of the planning, coming up with their own ideas, choosing the topics that interest them and using loose parts freely to bring their own ideas to life. We believe that being ‘ready’ for school isn’t just about letters, numbers and science investigations but about being thoughtful, kind and respectful too.
