Dear Parents/Guardian
Hello! Welcome to Brambley Cottage. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in our nursery and to let you know what we have to offer you as parents! Here you will find the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
What do Ofsted say about you?
We were inspected in 2000 and passed with flying colours. The Inspectors said that a return visit was not required for 2 - 4 years (highest available). Please read the Ofsted Report on Bramble Cottage. We have recently completed a survey of our customers. see what our customers think of us in our Customer Survey.
Where
are we?
We are conveniently situated close to Darley's roundabout on Beverley
Road, Hessle. We are the only single storey nursery in Hessle with our own
private car parking and we are set well back from the main road. We have high
security fencing surrounding our nursery that ensures the environment in which
our children play is completely safe. The location provides easy access from
the A63 and the surrounding villages of Hessle, Anlaby, Willerby, Kirk Ella,
North Ferriby, Swanland and Brough for parents working in the city centre without
going out of their way!
Who
are we?
Brambley Cottage is a family business, caring for children from 6 weeks to school
age in a safe, clean, stimulating and welcoming environment!
Are all the staff qualified?
Each room is managed by a fully qualified nursery nurse. They hold certificates in NNEB or equivalent, which means they have a minimum of 2 years training in childcare. On occasions, we may employ staff who are working towards these qualifications under supervision of qualified staff. As a team, we are committed to providing play opportunities for each individual child both in structured and free play settings. We recognise the importance of enabling children to develop skills at their own pace and encourage this by creating stimulating and varied play programmes (available for you to see!).
Does
the nursery operate a Key Worker System?
Your child will be allocated a named nursery nurse who will be their key worker,
to provide parents with a contact name and a more personal service. Members
of staff are available at any time to discuss any queries or offer advice where
necessary.
What
facilities does the nursery offer?
Brambley Cottage and Brambley Lodge are both able
to set high safety standards, being ideally situated on one level. This allows
us to give every child easy access to outdoor play (with the right compliment
of staff!) activities without the inconvenience of stairs. They are attractive,
spacious buildings that have been purposely designed to create open, brightly
coloured rooms for children to enjoy. Both Brambley Cottage and Brambley Lodge
have specially designed cloakrooms for your children's belongings, child level
toilet and washing facilities and ample storage for all our toys!
What
are the nursery opening times and when is it closed?
Brambley Cottage is open from 7.30 am - 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday all year
round with the exception of bank holidays. Morning sessions run from 7.30 am
until 12.30 p.m. (includes lunch) and afternoon sessions 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Places can either be full or part time. Please do not hesitate to discuss any
special requirements you may have and we will endeavour to meet these where
possible.
What
do I need to bring?
We ask you to provide nappies, wipes and a change of clothes for your child
whilst at nursery and request that these are labelled to prevent confusion!
Tiny Teds, Little Elephants and Polly Parrots each have their own belongings
baskets which we ask parents to keep well stocked up!
What
if my child needs medicine whilst at nursery?
The administration of medicine and skin creams (excluding sun tan lotion) will
only be given if parents have completed in full (including signature) our consent
form (available on request) as written authorisation.
What
if my child is ill?
If your child is ill and as a consequence will not be attending nursery we ask
you to inform us by telephone. If your child has diarrhoea or a communicable
disease we request that you do not bring him/her to the nursery. In the case
of diarrhoea your child must not attend until s/he has been clear for 48 hours.
In the event of your child being ill whilst at nursery, parents will be notified
and asked for their child to be collected. In matters of emergency an ambulance
would be called immediately. Furthermore, Brambley Cottage ensures that fully
first aid trained members of staff are always on the premises.
Does
the nursery provide meals?
All meals and drinks are provided with the exception of formula milk for babies.
Children who arrive before 8.15 are offered breakfast. At 10 am we provide a
drink (milk) and a snack (piece of fruit, biscuit or nursery baked bun!) Lunch
is served at 11.45 and comprises of a hot nursery baked savoury meal and a dessert.
At 2 p.m. the children are provided with a drink (sugar-free juice) and a snack.
At 3.45 we offer a 'light tea' such as sandwiches and a piece of fruit. The
'dish of the day' is displayed in reception every day. We are happy to meet
any dietary requirements and offer a vegetarian option. We operate a 'NO BEEF'
policy.
Is
the nursery well secured?
We aim to maximise the security and safety of your child
at all times. We ask parents to adhere to the 5 mph speed limit in our car park.
We have installed double gates into the grounds of the nursery and ask that
parents secure both when arriving and leaving the nursery. We have installed
an electronically operated keypad to gain entry to the nursery. You will be
given the number to facilitate entry and are asked to keep this number secure.
Please feel free to call in any time to see your child at play! As an additional
safety feature we have a security camera in each of our suites and cameras also
cover the children's play area. Monitoring screens are situated in the manager's
office and you are welcome to view them. We have a fire alarm, fire fighting
equipment and of course smoke alarms! We hold regular fire drills. Brambley
Cottage is strictly a non-smoking environment.
Will
my child be able to play outside?
We are fortunate to have a large hard surfaced playing area
and an equally large grassed area. We have a comprehensive stock of outdoor
toys and climbing equipment designed to encourage development. We play outside
throughout the seasons; making snowmen, splashing in the puddles, collecting
autumn leaves and planting sunflower seeds! We ask for parents to support us
by providing appropriate weather wear to enable us to do this! During the summer
months we ensure there are shaded areas to play and limit actual time in the
sun. However, we do insist on sun creams and hats for maximum protection.
How
do I apply for a place for my child?
If you would like to secure a place for your child at Brambley Cottage you should
either e-mail from here
(Please send me an information pack
about Brambley Cottage) or telephone for an information pack. We also ask
you to complete an information sheet (included in the pack) which enables us
to get to know your child and their unique little 'ways' and preferences! Please
also ensure that you read our Terms & Conditions and sign and return one copy
with your application form. You can send these forms to us and we will then
contact you. Note, if you are booking a place some months in advance it is advisable
to complete the information sheet when your child is about to start otherwise
the information is likely to be out of date!

happens when my child leaves the nursery?

us to plan and assist other parents anxious to obtain a placement at Brambley
Cottage.
Brambley Cottage believes that your child's security is of paramount importance and the latest facilities ensure their safety. With secure fences, secure entry, cameras inside and out and staff trained in first aid you can leave your child in our care knowing that they are in safe hands.
